Guide 02 · The big picture

What kind of game is this?

Public Lives Game is a shared life game where work, money, relationships and city decisions all belong to the same place.

There is no single way to win

People shape one shared city

You can play for minutes or hours

01

One life inside one city

You live in Solano City. You might take an ordinary job, open a shop, make music, build relationships, run for office, get into trouble or become the familiar face on one street.

These are not separate game modes. Your wages can become somebody else's sale. A new law can change household bills. A friendship can become a business partnership or a family. Choices made on one page often create the next story somewhere else.

Solano has five canonical districts. Riverside is live in the public beta. Marina and Central Exchange are growing. Foundry Ward and Juniper Heights are planned, so a map label or painted building there does not guarantee an available action.

Choose Now on the Life Compass whenever you want the game to gather those connections for you. It shows a few unfinished stories, not a long list of chores.

02

Human players and Townsfolk

Other players make the city surprising, but the game still works when only a few are around. Computer-controlled residents called Townsfolk keep ordinary jobs, shops and elections moving.

Townsfolk are always clearly labelled. The game never pretends that a computer-controlled resident is a real person. You can work for them, buy from them, meet them and build stories with them, but you will always know which kind of resident you are dealing with.

Human players add rivalry, cooperation and surprise, but you never need to wait for another player before taking a basic job or buying dinner.

03

Choose what a good life means

  • Build security: a steady job, a comfortable home and money put aside.
  • Build connection: friends, neighbours, a partner and a family history.
  • Build standing: a respected career, a popular business, fame or public office.
  • Mix all three and change direction whenever life gives you a reason.
04

Choices leave useful consequences

Public Lives Game does not have one score that says whether you are playing correctly. A high-paying job may leave less time for friendships. A new business may make money but create rent, stock and staff costs. Public office can build recognition while making your decisions visible to everybody.

Failure is part of the story rather than a request to restart. Losing an election can make your name better known. A strained friendship can be repaired. Money trouble has routes back through work and protected housing.

05

Play at your own pace

You do not need voice chat, quick reactions or everybody online at once. A short visit can move one story forward; a longer evening can explore a whole part of the city.

Some choices finish immediately and others show a clear waiting time. Close the game when you are done and return to the result later. Missing a day does not erase your character or break a login streak.
